Caversham Heights Pre-School runs a Key Person system. When they start pre-school, each child is assigned to a member of staff who takes a special interest in them. Each Key Person is the Key Person for several other children, and all of these children are placed into a group, which is given a colour. Each child’s Key Person provides regular feedback on their progress via the online “Tapestry” observation system, informal chats at drop off or pick up times and at parents’ evening at the end of the year.
We offer a home visit from a child’s Key Person prior to their first day at pre-school to aid them in acclimatising to the setting.
Many children choose to wear the optional pre-school uniform which consists of t-shirts or jumpers in their pre-school group colours. They spend time in their groups during “group time” activities on a regular basis.
